Sewer Line Repair

When Sewer Line Repair is the Right Fix

Recurring sewer backups that cabling doesn't fix
Cracked, collapsed, or offset pipe sections
Heavy root intrusion that returns within months
Bellied lines holding standing water
Damaged sewer under a driveway, patio, or addition
Aging clay, cast iron, or Orangeburg lines

Spot repair vs. full replacement

Most Kansas City sewer calls don't need a full replacement. If the camera shows the damage is concentrated at a single joint or short section, a spot repair — one access pit, one section of new PVC, backfill in a day — is usually the right call and a fraction of the cost. We only recommend a full replacement when the camera shows the pipe is failing in multiple places, the material is Orangeburg, or the line has lost grade and is bellied along most of its length.

How we price it

We quote three options on every sewer repair: spot, partial (replace from house to first failure point), and full trenchless replacement. You see all three prices side-by-side with the camera footage in front of you. There's no upsell pressure — most of our work is spot repair because that's what the camera usually says is needed.

Permits and inspection

Sewer-line work that crosses city right-of-way requires a permit and a city inspection. We pull permits in Overland Park, Lenexa, Olathe, Shawnee, KCK, KCMO, and every other city we serve, and we don't backfill until the city has signed off on the new line. That signed inspection is part of what protects your warranty.

How Sewer Line Repair Works

1

Camera and locate

We camera first, mark the defect on the surface, and quote off the actual finding.

2

Permit and locate utilities

City permit pulled, KS One Call for utility locates before we dig.

3

Excavate and replace

Spot pit or full trench depending on what the line needs. Schedule 40 PVC, properly bedded.

4

Inspect and backfill

City inspection, then proper backfill in lifts with compaction.

Sewer Line Repair — Frequently Asked

How long will the job take?

A spot repair is usually one day from start to finish. A full replacement is 2–4 days depending on length, depth, and whether we need to restore concrete or landscaping.

Will you damage my yard?

If the camera shows trenchless is a fit, we limit digging to two small access pits. If we have to open-trench, we cut sod in strips and roll it back so we can re-lay it. Landscape restoration is part of the quote, not a surprise add-on.

What does the 2-year warranty cover?

Workmanship on the section we repaired or replaced — joints, bedding, backfill, and grade. It does not cover unrelated failures elsewhere on the line, which is why we offer a discount on an annual maintenance camera.
