AC Maintenance

When AC Maintenance is the Right Fix

System hasn't been serviced in over a year
Bills creeping up versus last summer
Want to protect a newer system's warranty
Older unit you're trying to get a few more years from
Humidity feels high even when it's running
Preparing for the cooling season

What a real tune-up includes

We wash the outdoor condenser coil (a dirty coil is the #1 cause of high summer bills and compressor strain), test the run capacitor against its rated microfarads, verify the refrigerant charge by subcooling, clear and treat the condensate drain, check the contactor for pitting, measure the temperature split across the indoor coil, and tighten electrical connections. That's the difference between maintenance and a sticker on the unit.

Why it pays for itself

A clean, correctly charged system uses 5–15% less energy than a neglected one — in a Kansas City summer that's real money. More importantly, most catastrophic failures announce themselves first: a weak capacitor, a pitted contactor, a slowly clogging drain. Catching those in April for $20 in parts beats an emergency call and a flooded ceiling in July.

Warranty protection

Most manufacturer warranties require documented annual maintenance to stay valid. If your 5-year-old compressor fails and you've never had the system serviced, the manufacturer can deny the claim. Our maintenance visits are documented and registered, so the coverage you paid for actually holds up when you need it.

AC Maintenance — Frequently Asked

How often should I service my AC?

Once a year, ideally in spring before the first heat wave. If you have a heat pump that runs year-round, twice a year — spring and fall.

Is a tune-up really worth it?

If your system hasn't been touched in years, yes — the coil cleaning alone often pays for itself in lower bills, and we routinely catch failing capacitors and clogged drains before they cause a no-cool emergency.

What's in the maintenance plan?

Both a spring AC tune-up and a fall furnace tune-up, priority scheduling, no after-hours dispatch fees, and a discount on any repairs. It's the cheapest way to keep both systems healthy and warranties intact.
